Question by sng: TTC #2 for 8 months with no luck…. unexplained infertility?
I have been able to fall pregnant very easily in the past. I had a 3 miscarriages, a stillborn and blessed with my DD. Now we’ve been TTC for #2 for 8 months and I don’t understand why it’s not happening for us when it happened so effortlessly in the past. I’m worried it’s because I’m now 35. Has anyone had something similar? Please don’t suggest “seeing my doctor”, that’s obvious, I’m just looking for personal experiences. Thank you!

Question by Karla S: I am using a saliva fertility kit and after ovulation I keep getting a “transitional” reading. What’s up?
I have been testing since the beginning of my cycle. I say distinct changes for ovulation and about a week later another “ovulation” since then everyday has been “transitional”. Has anyone had these results?

Best answer:

Answer by jilldaniel_wvThe saliva scopes ferning pattern are based on the amount of estrogen in your system. Estrogen rises right before and during ovulation then goes back down. So you get a strong ferning pattern then it goes away. About a week after ovulation estrogen starts to rise again, but this time not as high as during ovulation, so you get a slight ferning on the scope. When I used the scope it would go back down to no ferning at all about 2-3 days before I started my period.

I have been trying to concieve for 3 years, and have some very basic fertility treatment (Clomid and Metformin). I have heard some great things about acupuncture and fertility. Have you ever used acupuncture for this purpose? Did it work? How long did it take to see results?

Do you have any recommendations for me–things to do or not do, or talk to the acupuncturist about? Thank you!

Answer by Daniel WAcupuncture, by most professional accounts, is total crap. It’s “benefits” are mostly attributed to the placebo effect, and any real benefits are extremely temporary.

Question by Jillian Dae: My breasts are always sore before my cycle, using fertility drugs?
My breasts are always sore before I start my cycle. I know this is a good sign of ovulation. Since they are sore and there is no chance of me being pregnant right now. (It is way too early to test) Does anyone know if it’s possible for my breasts to be sore now and also still get pregnant? Or is this a sign that this round of infertility drugs was unsuccessful? Anyone have the same experience?
I’m not due for my cycle for 2 more weeks…

Question by : After Copper IUD is removed how soon can I get pregnant?
Ok so I had my Copper IUD removed August 6th and still nothing. I have had my period every month like normal. My husband and I have been trying, I even went as far as downloading a fertility calendar on my phone. I thought it was instant or at least I thought from the research that I have done. Does anyone know if this is normal?

Best answer:

Answer by Melissa BTry ovulation predictor strips. You can find a bunch on amazon.com for cheap. And pregnancy test strips so you don’t use up your good tests. Also get an ovulation ticker or something if you have a blog or public forum you use. Try having sex two weeks after your period every other day. Also cafemom.com has an excellent group of women who are TTC masters. Just go to the site and sign up and join the group TTC.

Question by Lea: What are the success rates of an IUI for somebody with unexplained infertility?
I have heard anything from 8% to 50%. I would love to find out the true statistic. My RE wants me to start IUI next month. I have done three months of Femara (monitored with trigger shot) and ovulated great but no BFP. I am 36 (37 next week) and diagnosed with unexplained fertility because all my tests have come back normal. Part of me wants to skip over IUI and go for IVF but I want to hear stastics first.
thanks!

Best answer:

Answer by TinaWhen going through fertility treatments (also diagnosed with unexplained infertility, I was 34 and DH was 35), my RE put the success rates at between 15 – 20%.

A lot of it depends on the number of follicles – medications like femara and clomid tend to cause 1 or 2 follicles to develop putting you at the lower end of the spectrum but if . . . → Read More: What are the success rates of an IUI for somebody with unexplained infertility?

Answer by Tina
When going through fertility treatments (also diagnosed with unexplained infertility, I was 34 and DH was 35), my RE put the success rates at between 15 – 20%.

A lot of it depends on the number of follicles – medications like femara and clomid tend to cause 1 or 2 follicles to develop putting you at the lower end of the spectrum but if you are injectible fertility meds like Gonal F and produce 4 or more follicles then your chances of success dramatically increase . . . as well as your chance of multiples. Makes sense . . . the more mature eggs, the more targets for the sperm, the more likely you will become pregnant.

Question by B girl: me again (re: long menstruation cycle ?affect fertility)?
some answers to my previoius question ( if a 42 day cycle affects fertility) suggested i track my basal body temperature to see if i do ovulate and perhaps find out how long my luteal phase is .. i have used a ovulation (saliva) kit that is positive for about 4 days … does this mean i ovulate??? or is it meant to be positive for longer then 4 days??

Best answer:

Answer by browneyedgirlI have found those saliva tests to not be accurate. I guess they work for some and not others?

Have you tried using any other method besides the saliva ferning kit?

Good luck!
